Bulkhead Gates and Stop Logs

Bulkhead Gates and Stop Logs are normally used to dewater for equipment maintenance in flood control dams and similar structures. Where Bulkhead Gates are supplied in one piece panels, Stop Logs are furnished in multiple sections for ease of handling and installation. Each style gate is typically installed with a mobile crane or overhead hoisting arrangement. Stop Logs can be supplied with a follower lifting beam to simplify installation and removal.

Floating Bulkheads

Floating bulkheads are typically used for spillway openings where inaccessibility or size, prevent the use of a conventional bulkhead gate. The floating bulkhead consists of individual sections called caissons that are floated into place, pinned together then chambers in the caissons are filled with water as needed to lower the assembled gate into place in the opening. For removal, the caisson chambers are filled with air to evacuate the water allowing the gate to float to the surface. Email Craig Moore for detailed product information, phone 716-667-0714.

Slide Gates

Fabricated steel Slide Gates are provided with neoprene seals to minimize leakage, and are operated using manual gear drives, electric actuators or hydraulic cylinders for operation.

Roller Gates

Roller gates are typically used where opening sizes are too large to efficiently use slide gates, or applications where gravity closure is a requirement. The use of a wheeled gate results in significantly lower operating loads thereby providing an effective means for emergency closure applications.

Crest Gates

Crest gates are bottom hinged gates used for precise water level control. They are typically hydraulically operated to allow for opening during power outages in flood events. The hydraulic cylinders may be located either below the gate or at each end of the gate atop the adjacent piers depending on site conditions. Rugged rubber seals are provided at each end and along the bottom of the gates to efficiently minimize leakage.

Tainter Gates

Tainter gates consist of a curved skinplate and radial arms typically used on large openings where vertical lift gates are impractical. Tainter gates are usually operated by cable or drum hoists to allow for full travel with minimal overhead super structure. Rubber seals are attached to the sides and bottom of the gate and seal on stainless steel plates embedded in the adjacent concrete.

Bonneted Slide Gates

Bonneted slide gates are vertical lift gates totally enclosed in steel frames and bodies then fully encased in concrete. They are typically located in conduit for high head applications. Bonneted gates can be electrically or hydraulically operated. However, most are hydraulically operated to avoid having to penetrate the bonnet cover with threaded stem sections.
